Litigation and Management Experience. Before founding LSIR, David Laufer practiced law in California for over 40 years. He served as the co-managing partner of a major law firm employing more than 80 lawyers in four California offices. He has experience conducting jury trials and arguing cases in California state and Federal appellate courts. Mr. Laufer focused his successful law practice on efficiently resolving consumer and labor class actions, Prop. 65 regulatory compliance and litigation, insurance coverage disputes, accounting earn-out disputes, and California attorney general and district attorney enforcement lawsuits involving consumer products. He is rated “AV® Preeminent®,” the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell®, Directory of Lawyers martindale.com.
General Counsel Corporate Experience. Mr. Laufer served as Vice President and General Counsel (VP-GC) of a public consumer products company. He was elected to its Board of Directors and served on its audit committee for four years. As VP-GC he was in charge of and supervised SEC, FDA, and regulatory filings, human resources, class action litigation, risk management, and placing insurance coverage with Insurers. To reduce the increasing expense of product and general liability insurance for his products company, Mr. Laufer created a self-insurance defense and indemnity program that saved his company several millions of dollars in premiums and defense and indemnity expenses.
